I did Week 3 Day 1 on a Sunday this week and I'm pleased to report that my usual lack of confidence and ability to talk myself out of doing well had stayed in bed for a lie in - so I was able to get on with it and KNOW that I was going to succeed and do well! I think I can put my confidence down to the fact that I'm only adding an extra 2 minutes jogging onto last weeks intervals - and lets face it, 2 minutes is nothing (but isn't that the whole point of this program - taking you up nice and slowly so you don't get scared or put off?) The usual suspects kept me company while I jogged - Queen, Dire Straights, Madness, Annie Lennox, Mike and the Mechanics to name but a very few. I love running to my own choice of music. I even managed to increase my speed today and got up to 5.4mph - which was pretty good - mind you, it sort of sets the standard for the week! I do like to do day 1 slowly then on day 2 (after I've proved I can actually finish the workout) I like to increase the speed a little then on day 3 I like to up in a bit more - so each day I cover a little more distance.
I was thinking about how I'm going to run my Race For Life during the first jogging segment and before I knew it my buzzer went off and it was time to walk! Well, that was a surprise! On race day I'm going to jog very slowly and make sure I jog the whole 5k! I know it's going to be very tempting to go haring off at a great rate of knots to keep up with other ladies who are fitter and stronger than me - I really will have to resist that temptation. We've all heard the story of the tortoise and the hare? Well, I need to be in tortoise mode I think - slowly slowly slowly and get there in the end!
I was going to treat myself to a brand new all singing all dancing treadmill for doing the Race For Life at a jog and not a walk - but I'm not sure if I'm going to wait that long! I've set my sights on a BEAST of a treadmill - and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Ignored has given me to go ahead to spend rather a HUGE amount of money. I tried it out on Sunday in one of our local sports shops and really love the gadgetry it's got - fans, speakers for my ipod, and lots of lovely buttons and things to fiddle about with while I run - lol

Once I've finished the Bridge 2:10k I'll be under less pressure - no deadline - so I'll be able to run when I want and not have a schedule to stick to! I find that because I'm having to run first thing in the morning I've always got my eye on the time - which puts me under pressure and is a little bit stressful - have I got time to do the run, get a shower, get my breakfast, do some housework etc etc - and all before I go to work. I can hardly be late for work every other day because I'm jogging can I?! I'm sure my "olds" wouldn't be too impressed at all!

After work I thought I'd see how running in 80+ degrees might be. My treadmill is now under the ceiling fan and I hoped things would be more comfortable - but it was still very hot. My new treadmill has a built in fan so with luck that'll make a difference. I did enjoy my workout this evening though - it's good not to be clock watching and not to have a deadline - just jogging until I was tired....

I had to get up early on my own for Week 3 Day 3 - He-Who-Must-Be-Ignored wasn't in work early today and I knew if I stayed in bed until his alarm went off I'd be really pushed for time - so at 5.15am when my alarm went off I sprang out of bed - actually, when I say SPRANG I actually mean, slithered! But hey ho - what's a slither between friends?! So, a 2.92 mile dog walk later(logged with Endomondo - google it!) and I arrive home, have an energy drink (forgot to take a banana to eat on my walk!) did my stretches, kissed goodbye to H-W-M-B-I as he set off for work and jumped on my treadmill, wondering if this is the last time I will do my workout on "Old Faithful" It was 68 degrees in the conservatory this morning and I remembered to set the ceiling fan on its fastest setting today - which made things far more comfortable! I was still hot as I ran but much more comfortable than my previous day - which probably shows as I didn't burn quite so many calories and my heart rate was lower - all that - and check out the speed I managed to get up to! Yes, I know it's not that fast - but not too long ago jogging at 5.7 would have had the alarm on my heart rate monitor going off on one! So, that's it - week 3 finished. I'm now halfway through the Bridge 2:10k - amazing!
Fingers crossed I can keep up the good work!

You're doing great Netty. I totally agree with your plan for the C25k race. Steady wins the race....set off steady and leave energy to finish the race. I so want to be able to jog the whole race too. I plan to take a couple of days rest just before to conserve my energy.
