2011 saw me transform from couch potato to runner (well, when I say runner I actually mean slow jogger)
2011 saw me loose a stone in weight.
201 saw me put back on half a stone! (but at least I didn't put it all back on and in my defense I should point out that at least 4lbs went on over my recent holiday to Egypt and during Christmas and New Year. Not really a good excuse, I know, but it's the only one I've got)
I hope to start running again this year and that "hope" includes getting back into the half marathon training which has stalled somewhat. The stall was due to a holiday in August/September 2011 followed by an injury to my foot.
It was hard to get back to running after a long lay off. I did get back to it briefly then was off again (another injury) then back onto it again just before Christmas. I've struggled to fit in the longer runs that are required to complete the half marathon training so I shirked off the shorter ones too. While I was on holiday over Christmas I got myself to the gym and ran pretty much every morning and every evening which I think is pretty good! I missed my run on Christmas Day Morning and on one other day when I was hungoer - so that's not bad, considering I was on holiday and supposed to be relaxing!
So, here we are in 2012 and I'm now finding I've getting quite a lot of lower back pain. I just can't bloody win!
My plan of action for this year:
- I will loose those 6lbs before my next holiday (not booked yet but hope it will be early May)
- I will walk on my treadmill at least 5 times a week. This walking will involve a steep incline to get my heart racing and those calories burning and will hopefully not be too much of a problem to my back.
- I will try to update my blog at least once a week to include a weigh in as well as details of how much exercise I've been doing. And if I shirk? I hope somebody will kick me up the arse and tell me to get back onto it!!
Oh, and one more thing - my blog view/layout seems to have changed out of all recognition. I have no clue what I've done to change it and I really don't like it so I need to pull my finger out and get that sorted out too! (hmm.. just checked and it appears to be looking as it should again - at least that's one thing I can cross off my To-Do-List!)
I should point out that all this will begin tomorrow as I'm off with the family to visit Father-In-Law today to deliver his Christmas Present, and we're taking him out to lunch, so, watch this space and PLEASE feel free to contact me and give me a right roasting if I appear to be slacking
Ramble over.
Catch you soon

PS Fully Epic Fail today on the diet front. Although I really wasn't counting on it being a great diet day I've so far managed to drink lots of tea and coffee with cream and sugar as well as chomping my way through a HUGE Harvester Original Combo meal (ribs and chicken) THEN my daughter and her partner INSISTED on us calling in at the service station at Blyth roundabout on the A1 and pretty much FORCED us to buy Krispy Kreme donuts! Well, maybe they didn't quite force the purchase but they'd have given Neil and I sad "puppy eyes" if we'd walked out of the services empty handed so we succumbed to the evils of the donuts! Tomorrow, as they say, is another day......
