Nothing much to report to be honest, except to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying being allowed to run again - even if I've had to go back to the starting blocks! Having a running buddy means that I can do my running (actually, slow jogging is more how I would describe it!) outdoors. Our regular route seems to be down to Hartsholme Park as this keeps me off the pavements (which I'm not allowed to run on at the moment!) and also gives us some nice scenery to enjoy as we torture ourselves! It also means we're less likely to be seen by anyone we know! Lee-Anne's not feeling too confident yet about being seen out and about. Mind you, the park is a popular place with joggers, bike riders and dog walkers so there are plenty of people to see us as we gasp and pant our way around the route!Lee-Anne and I completed week two without too much drama - unless you count her declaring that she's "going to die...." as she struggled to run for more than 10 yards. Bless her. She did say that maybe we'd repeat week two as she didn't think she was ready for week three just yet - however, this morning we made a start on Week 3 - which involved intervals of 3 minutes of running followed by a brief walk. She swore a little but managed the first 3 minute run (although she was very pleased when it was time to walk!) Having done the first run I hope she felt encouraged because she knew it was a do-able task!
It's hard for me to remember that just a year ago this was me. When I first embarked on the C25k program I thought that I'd never make a runner. I recall running my first uninterrupted mile and feeling so pleased with myself. When I ran 5k for the first time I was euphoric! I never thought I'd do it. I try to remember this and keep encouraging Lee-Anne as we run. I tell her that she WILL do it and that we will RUN the Race For Life in July. I'm not sure she believes me but I'm sure it's true.
