Week 8 - Day 1 - and our first run in the sun for what seems like an age - and guess what? Instead of moaning about running in the cold and rain we were moaning about being TOO HOT! It was about 17* Celsius (62.6* Fahrenheit)
Lee-anne no longer moans about my making her run (like I really make her!) and she even Tweets that she's looking forward to her workouts! Now, what's THAT all about?!
Week 8 - Day 2 - the day dawned - sunny and bright and continued that way until dusk. Result - we ran in the sunshine again. Not quite as warm as last time but certainly warm enough to make us break into a sweat! This time Hayley, my daughters partner, joined us on our run. She's a few weeks behind us so her run was 20 minutes long and ours was 28 minutes long. We left her in a field, taking a short cut home while we continued to run around the edges of that field, and then across the field before jogging out to the shopping center and down the main road in our estate before finally catching up with Hayley! For me, second time around, I know this is do-able. For Lee-anne - she knows that if I can do it then she can do it! :)
Week 8 - Day 3 - another good run! I can't believe I was so shy about running outdoors when I first embarked on jogging for the Race For Life last year! This time we did part running around the estate and then went into Hartsholme Park to do a quick dash around the lake before finishing (did I say "quick dash"?) Actually - we plod. Plod plod plod - like we have all the time in the world. Today saw us covering a distance of 3.05 miles so we're still a little short of our 5k (running 3.1 miles) Our actual running distance was 2.65 miles so still a little way to go yet. Next week, week 9 should see us nailing the 5k distance and then we can concentrate on trying to do it all a little bit faster!
oh happy days!
