No, I'm not referring to some sort of sexual antics - I'm referring to my latest "Good Idea"
What on EARTH was I thinking when I signed myself, my daughter and her wife up to do a Santa Fun Run the day before I head off to Egypt for my Christmas Holidays? With my track record and given that in mid December there could be snow and ice on the ground (how very apt for a Santa run) this could be a recipe for DISASTER!
In typical "Netty" style I received my race pack a few weeks ago and promptly put it in the writing desk without inspecting it fully and forgot all about it - until a few days ago - when it suddenly struck me that:
- I've barely done any running recently due to various injuries, and also due to a sudden lapse into Idle-Sodedness (is Sodedness not a word? Well, I think it jolly well should be - must consider contacting the Oxford English Dictionary* to remedy this!)
- This event is less than 24 hours before my holiday
- I have no clue where to get my Santa Suit from!
- I need to sort out some sponsorship. Minimum amount of sponsorship this year is £20.12
As for the problem of running the day before my holiday - well, it's a very short run and if there's even the slightest hint that it's slippery under foot then I'm going to reserve the right to WALK (but knowing me I'll just run and end up in A&E)
The sponsorship issue is sorted as, after reading the race pack I realized you can get sponsors the old fashioned way or you can set up an online page Which You Can Find By CLICKING HERE
So, at the time of writing I have a mere 30 Days To Go before this Disaster In The Snow! (potential disaster anyway - but I'm sure it's all going to be fine - I just thought if I made it sound more dramatic it would make for more interesting reading!)
Thank you for allowing me to bore you once more!
Warmest Regards and a Ho-Ho-Ho
Netty
*Further to my point - Ref: Oxford English Dictionary - I contacted a very nice man named Dilbert Grubs regarding my inquiry as to the inclusion of Soddedness or Sodedness (or more precisely Idle-Soddedness) into said dictionary. I was most surprised to hear what I can only describe as a Guffaw followed by a snigger as he directed me to another person who might help. I have to say that Miss Smythe was far more helpful and polite and after I gave her an explanation as to the meaning of the word she assured me that this is just the sort of input she was looking for and is putting forward this lovely new word for inclusion into next years dictionary. Watch this space as they say.......
PONDER:
I wonder what my (potential) grandchildren will think when they read Nans Blog in years to come. They'll probably nod and decide that their feeling that their Nan is bonkers has always been right.....
