During April I hoped to continue running 3 times a week, distances over 5 miles each time. I didn't expect to cover as many miles as last month (92.22 miles total)

APRILS TOTAL MILES: 65 MILES
The month didn't go particularly well. It started off ok with a few good runs but I fell ill with with a sickness bug on 12th. Although I was only very poorly overnight I did loose 4lbs during that one night and spent all of the following day feeling very weak and unwell, with the most strenuous thing on my mind being a shuffle to the loo and back. I slept off and on for 14 hours the night after and decided it was a very bad idea to go running when I've not eaten anything proper for over 24 hours. It's not like me to be unwell as I usually have a cast iron constitution. Getting back to running went ok although it has clearly impacted on the number of miles I will logged during the month! We also spent a weekend away in Sheffield when I took Neil to see Meat Loaf which caused me to miss two of my planned runs.

| New Lincolnshire Runner Store |
On that particular day, back in August 2011 I went into the Lincolnshire Runner with some trepidation and fear! My latest trip (April 13th 2012) was a little different.
The shop has moved premises since the last time I visited. It's now quite a bit further up the High Street, closer to the main drag and is rather nicer inside. The previous shop had a steel plate on the front door and the premises were dark and dingy The new shop is brighter, better organised, fresher - well, just a nicer place to be!

| Asic GT1000 £80 |
On my first visit in August 2011 I wasn't too keen on setting foot in a proper running shop - mainly because I didn't see myself as a runner. This time I wouldn't even entertain going anywhere else for my shoes. During my first visit I was shocked to be sent outside in a pair of trainers to try them out on the pavement, out there in the public glare and I was ill prepared for running! This time it was no surprise and I'd come prepared in some leggings and a t-shirt and I even brought along my lovely pink and purple Asics which were being replaced so the guys in the shop could see what I'd been running on! As I was happy with my Asics we quickly decided to stick to that brand. I tried on a pair that replaced my old GT1200's but they weren't quite right, although the grey colour was very neutral and looked good. The next pair I tried on were some gopping pink GT1000's - a step down from the one's I've been running in but I was assured that the improved design meant they were just as good as my pink and purples. These were very comfortable and I decided to stick with them - although I did ask for another colour other than HOT PINK! Sadly, there weren't any other colours available in my size (I take a whopping size 6 in running shoes!)
On this day I wanted a pair of running shoes. I wanted comfort and
safety. I wasn't worried about how big they made my feet look. I wasn't
bothered if the colour didn't match my running outfits.
Also in the shop was another lady who was also buying running shoes. She reminded me of myself not too long ago. I have to admit that I smiled in a superior manor as I heard her say she wanted pink running shoes and they MUST match her running outfit or it was a no sale! (Get a grip love - colour isn't the be all and end all!)
So, £80 lighter in pocket and with new shoes in hand I was a happy bunny.
Lets hope they are comfortable to run in...
Thanks for looking in on my blog..... See you next month perhaps...
