Sweat is just pain leaving the body!!
My body must be in agony when I run then!
It seems like a million years ago since I made my last post! Well, ok, maybe not a million years - but such a long long time. I've been waiting to to finish my week 6 training before posting, however, I'm struggling to get the final workout of this set finished and it looks like it will be New Year before I fit in my 5 minute walk, 70 minute jog, 5 minute walk final push so it seems like a good idea to post now then finish off later!
So, what's gone wrong? Nothing really. I've been leaving more of a gap between runs to make sure that my foot remains stable. I'm also struggling with these dark mornings and dark evenings. I seem to have no energy at all. For many years I've been of the opinion that I suffer from S.A.D. so maybe that's partly the problem. I'm thinking that maybe I should just return to doing some sort of run every other day rather than worrying about trying to fit in 80 or 90 minutes of running (and longer!) I DO want to run a half marathon but if I'm struggling so much to fit in the runs, and that means I'm not running at all then it seems to make sense to drop down to doing shorter runs but doing them more often....
I'm off to Egypt for Christmas and I'm also very conscious that I might take an injury before I go which is also putting me off my final run of week 6 (even though it's shorter than the previous run)
I do intend to do some running while I'm away though - just an odd mile or two.......
So, here's my stats for week 6 - minus the final run. If I get a sudden burst of energy before I go on holiday I'll update. If not, I wont!
WEEK 6 DAY 1
5 MINUTE WARM UP WALK
40 MINUTE JOG
5 MINUTE COOL DOWN WALK
I looked at this and thought - 40 minutes jogging - that's a nice way to ease myself back into jogging! FOOL! 24 hours after doing this workout my legs hurt like you would not believe! It's amazing how quickly your body forgets how to cope!
Week 6 Day : 1

WEEK 6 DAY 2
5 MINUTE WARM UP WALK
40 MINUTE JOG
5 MINUTE COOL DOWN WALK
After a few days of aches and pains I got back onto it on Wednesday morning.
He-Who-Must-Be-Ignored was in work early so I managed to get a nice long walk in with my dogs before setting off on this workout. For the first 2 or so miles everything was going really well. I felt much better than I did on my previous workout and even had to hold back on my speed so I didn't end up burning myself out. I have a 10.44 minute mile but could easily have gone under 10 minutes if I'd allowed myself to, however my moto is slowly gets the distance done! They don't call me Captain Slow for nothing you know!
At around the 2.5 mile mark I felt a slight twinge in my right foot, exactly where I've been injured recently. Now, today I had two heads on my shoulders. Stupid Head (which was carrying Pillock Brain in it) was saying - nah - tis merely a twinge - ignore it, carry on, you're doing great!
So I did!
For a couple of hundred yards.
Then Sensible Head with Smart Brain on-board said, Actually Netty - this is what you did last time and you ended up out of action for a month. Do you REALLY think it's wise to continue?
Stupid Head pipes up - don't be a wimp! It's nowhere near as painful as last time - it'll be fine - carry on!
Sensible Head reminded Stupid Head that last time I was injured it started off as just a little twinge and as I was too stupid to stop running things just got worse and worse and worse!
Stupid Brain knows that Sensible Brain is right - which galls Stupid Brain, who reluctantly tells my feet to stop running! I walked for quite a while but then thought I'd have a little jog. Apart from my foot hurting everything else feels just fine which is just infuriating! Although this seems like just a twinge I know it can develop into something worse if I don't stop jogging and putting strain on it - so I drop down to walking again. Sensible Head is soothed by this but all the while Stupid Head keeps saying - have a little jog - it might just be a blip... it might not be as bad as you think.... and so I walked and jogged and walked and jogged until I realised that, actually, Sensible Head is right. I HAVE TO STOP JOGGING and allow my foot to rest.
So, dear reader, it looks as though I'm going to take at least 2 weeks off from jogging again. At this rate I'll never achieve my ambition to run a marathon before I die! Pfft, I can't even get close to a half marathon! *sulk*

10 MINUTE RUN
5 MINUTE JOG
10 MINUTE RUN
20 MINUTE JOG
5 MINUTE COOL DOWN WALK
Oohhh my goodness I'm going to ache after this one! Another workout on the treadmill - I'm a bit worried about going out and pounding the pavements in case my recent injury rears it's ugly head and I end up being unable to run again for another month! Not fun! I WILL be running a half marathon next year so I can't afford to be off injured! Anyway, todays workout was eased along by some good music AND a great DVD which my lovely Endomondo friend Les sent to me. He has a "head cam" and filmed one of his runs. Much more interesting to have some good scenery to look at when I'm running.

Week 6 Day 5:
I kept putting this workout off as I'd taken a peek at what was expected and didn't fancy it at all! Finding an hour and a half to spare where I could do this workout has also proved to be difficult - and it certainly ain't going to get any easier if I managed to progress further! I'm sticking to my treadmill at the moment too - softer on my feet so hopefully I can remain injury free for a while so at least I'm not having to plan my route which makes things a bit easier, however, it is rather boring. Luckily I do have a DVD that an Endomondo friend sent to me, covering his run in the summer so I have some interesting scenery to look at!
Just one more workout after this one and I've finished Week 6 - past half way!
