Since my last posting my girls and I have started on a 10k training program - but as we've only just finished 5k interval training we decided that starting at week 1 of this program was a real step backwards so we decided to start at week 4 (actually - my it was my daughters idea to start at week 4 if I'm truthful)
OK, So, week 4 went ok. This was a 5 minute warm up walk followed by 4x 8 minute runs with one minute recovery walks in between. Hayley, my soon to be daughter in law didn't join us for one of the runs. During the first run she was way behind so on run 3 we made her lead on the 3rd run of the week - and amazingly enough she can go at a decent pace when she wants to! Pushing her to the front means that we're not constantly looking back to see where she is.
Hayley in the lead is the future...
My ambition to run a marathon is still alive but rather than a burning ambition it's more like a dying ember. My ambition to run a half marathon also still burns quietly but with little hope of being realized. Even my hopes of finishing the 10k training is looking a little hopeless. Not because I don't want to complete these things. My desire to do these things remains the same, however, I think health considerations are making me realize that I'm probably not going to make it. My lower back continues to give me problems. Some days it's worse than others. I continue to use my gym ball most days, have regular chiropractic appointments but my back continues to give me varying degrees of discomfort.
I've now added a mixture of pills and potions to my daily routine to see if they can help, as well as having to take calcium for the rest of my life (after being diagnosed with Osteopenia earlier in the year) I'm now taking cod liver oil and glucosamine sulphate. What a heady mix! I'm sure there will be more to add as the years go by.
I also seem to have reached that magical age when technology "foxes" me - as I've spent the last hour trying to sort out access to this blog using a different email address - GRRRRrrrr I don't think it's worked. All I wanted to do was make access for my pictures more simple. I think I might have to go to work now. I'm telling you, dealing with senile old people who are very demanding is less demanding than dealing with my laptop and my blog sometimes....
Until the next time I bore you to tears...
